3 Games to Check Out In September
Starfield
Xbox Series X and Series S, PC
Somehow this feels like the first big expansive Bethesda RPG worth talking about since Skyrim in 2011. The world has over a thousand planets to explore, but only 10% of them will have any forms of life in them, and the world will contain the largest city Bethesda has ever set to work on, so at least 6 city blocks.
If you’re not sure you want to drop the full amount on the game you can get a month of Xbox Gamepass and play it via cloud on anything.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
Available on everything
If you missed the note (because I’ve put this game in this list twice before), Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is what happens when Sega spends over 20 years NOT making a Jet Set Radio Future sequel. Someone else has to do it instead, bringing back everything you love about the cult classic with a dash of modern sensibilities and an understanding that not everybody wants to be rollerblading all the time. The music is on point, the visuals are spot on and the gameplay is kinetic and fun.

Lies of P
PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, PC
I honestly didn’t realise the protagonist was a dude but yeah, it turns out that the next big soulslike would be headed up by the Japanese ideal version of Timothée Chalamet. Lies of P got massive amounts of hype when it dropped its demo, and everyone’s been excited to dive back in ever since. Bizarrely based on Pinocchio this game is a bit more rigid than a regular soulslike, less focused on positioning, and more focused on timing dodges and blocks effectively, cause they’re gonna hit you no matter where you’re standing. If you’re interested, give the demo a go first to make sure it’s for you.
