Mockamole & The Youngest Company to Hit Fortune 500
This Month in Success News
Increasing Demand for Mockamole
It’s not only New Zealand that’s had to choose between buying avocado or a house. Mexico has been squeezed by prices so hard that cooks there are starting to find clever alternatives to feed their clientele.
Prices for 10 kilos of locally grown Hass avocados has shot up 7% to 650 pesos ($51NZ). Avocado growing in Mexico has been down this year 1.2% or 9,071 tonnes compared to last year.
But what’s the alternative? Apparently chefs are sneaking in zucchini, which when mashed and mixed with the rest of the usual guacamole suspects makes a surprisingly decent substitute. The only difference is a slightly sweeter taste. Perhaps there’s a business opportunity to be made out of mockamole.
Youngest Fortune 500 Company
The upstart smartphone maker turned innovator, Xiaomi, has broken onto the Fortune 500 list.
Its inclusion onto the list helps continue a trend of China beginning to dominate the list. It has 129 companies on the list compared to USA’s 121.
Xiaomi is also the youngest company to ever make it onto the list. Starting nine years ago with a team of 13, the company has quickly grown to the world’s fourth best-selling smartphone company.
To celebrate their inclusion on the list, founder and CEO, Lei Jun, announced he’d be gifting $24.3 million in shares to his 20,538 co-workers.
Xiaomi was only just listed last year in Hong Kong with an IPO that raised $4.72 billion.
Ranked at 468th currently, Xiaomi has no intentions of slowing down.
