Put Ice Climbing This Cave On Your Post-Covid Bucket List
Nadine Wallner shows us how ice climbing is done during a photo shoot in Hintertux, Austria on September 29, 2020.
Just a two hour drive south from Munich, the Hintertux Glacier is one of the only resorts to offer skiing all year round. Unfortunately, as Covid restrictions roll across the country, even peaks 3,250m above sea level weren’t immune to lockdowns. So while there is perfect powder for shredding, it will be going unshredded for the foreseeable time. The Spannagel cave located 2,530m up is the largest natural stone cave in the Central Alps, and under normal circumstances is explorable all year round. Maybe when everything’s calmed down we can see it in person.
