Health News – January 2018
It’s the season of summer sports, so grab your mates and head out to the tennis, races or polo this January.
ASB Classic
Experience the violence of the swing, the gun-shot thwack of racquet meeting rubber and green felt and the energy of the players as they run, skid and scramble around the court at the ASB Classics in Auckland this January. With big-player names hitting the court – like Argentinian Juan Martin del Porto, No. 8 in the world; American Jack Sock; and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka – this tournament is going to be the most thrilling and entertaining one yet.
This season, two former champions – Agnieszka Radwanska, 2013 winner and former world No. 2, and 2016 champion, Roberto Bautista Agut – are playing and there’s a hum of excitement in the air about who they will play.
The Australian Open is just around the corner for some of the ASB Classic tennis players on this year’s circuit. The excitement of the courts is looking red hot, as the tournament this January is running the men’s and women’s games concurrently rather than in individual, separate tournaments. Competing until 13 January, and under the hot blanket of Auckland’s summer weather, the ASB Tennis Centre is going to be teeming with moments that will need to be seen to be believed – and in person will be even better. Rub shoulders with New Zealand’s sports and media celebrities courtside, as this event is not just a sporting event to watch, but also one you need to be seen at.
