An Incredible Camping Experience On The Edge Of The Grand Canyon
It feels like we’re in a golden age for camping right now. Creative people all of the world seem to be constantly looking for ways to adapt the once mundane ‘pitch a tent and whip out the gas cooker’ camping experience into something special and unique. The latest example of this comes out of the Grand Canyon, where a brand new incredible, innovative luxury campsite is set to open later this year in October.
The Nomad’s Pad is a truly 21st century camping experience, an outdoor complex which will sit on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and practically defines the term ‘glamping’. The idea is the brainchild of rental-veterans Jenny and Victor Pegeanu, who funded the ambitious project through crowdfunding website, Indiegogo.
Guests will be staying in one of just ten of 400 square feet pyramid-shaped glass pods, which, as well as being simply awesome to look at, come with air conditioning and a queen sized bed, as well as access to private detached shower and bathroom. The walls of the pyramid are made with a smart glass technology which enables them to, at the touch of a button switch, from transparent to opaque, depending on whether you’re wanting to gaze at the incredible American Midwest night sky or settle in and have a bit of privacy. Each pyramid also comes with a deck and just about every essential you could possibly want; a propane fire pit, a hammock, a set of comfortable lounge furniture, and even a private spa pool!
If that wasn’t enough, Nomad’s Pad’s hosts want to make this a fully immersive experience, so they are planning on providing an additional range of ‘stress melting’ activities for guests to enjoy, including sip-and-paint classes, yoga classes and outdoor movie screenings. The campsite sits just over an hours drive from major cities Phoenix and Las Vegas and situates guests on the cusp of the magnificent Grand Canyon.
As you would probably expect, it costs a decent sum for a camping trip of this quality, and the pre-ordering prices have ranged from anyway between $579 to $1,659 USD. Another neat little details; priority has been given to those who supported the Indiegogo fundraising campaign, meaning Nomad’s Pad’s first guests will be those who helped turn it into a reality.
