Montblanc Black Out
Just in case you haven’t heard already, Fashionistas – Black is the new Black. That’s right, we’ve gone a full circle and come all the way around to the original cool colour after our somewhat misguided dalliances with Powder Blue, Soft Gold, Faded Bronze, Millennial Pink and Greige over the last couple of decades. (Actually, let’s all form a secret gentlemen’s agreement to ixnay any and all faded colours for a while, huh? Just reeks of indecision to me!)
Anyway, black being back is ultra good news because what isn’t there to love about it? Black goes with anything; it’s sophisticated; it’s slimming, gets rid of any need to make pesky colour matching and – unlike pretty much any other colour – it never goes out of fashion. (Can you believe people liked Burnt Sienna and French Violet in the ‘70s? Sometimes even together! Yikes!)

The reason we all know black is really back is because luxury business lifestyle fashion maison Montblanc are launching a new cross-category collection – and all in today’s dark and mysterious
colour. Although you could argue that Montblanc have always been into black – it has been their colour for pretty much forever. They were even into it the first time Black was the New Black,
way back when Black was the New Montblanc!
Although this time, a mere black isn’t enough for Montblanc, they are going with UltraBlack and across a range of products; ranging from elegant leather goods to sophisticated writing instruments, from stylish watches to audacious new smart technologies. ‘The pieces and their functionality,’ Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO explains, ‘while unified by their black design,

Montblanc Ultra Black Leather Collection
Montblanc kick off the UltraBlack collection with elegance in mobility represented here by a Backpack, a Wallet, and a Document Case. Bolder than ever, the all-over M treatment is in embossed leather plus the emblem here becomes a distinctive element allowing for easy opening. The Backpack is equipped with exterior and interior pockets including a handy padded laptop compartment; while the Document Case and Wallet can be hand-carried.
Montblanc Starwalker Ultra Black Writing Instruments
In black precious matte resin with contrasting black ruthenium-coated metal fittings, Montblanc StarWalker UltraBlack is an instrument of imagination and creation, featuring a Montblanc emblem that seems to float in mid-air on a grey base. The StarWalker line-up includes a Precious Resin edition in all-black with contrasting metal fittings, and a Doué edition with a black
resin barrel paired with a metal cap or forepart. Each edition is available as a Fountain Pen, Ballpoint and Fineliner Pen.
