(Dinner) Party Like It’s New Year All Over Again
New Year; the absolute best time of year where we can celebrate getting rid of the last one – or revisit the highlights if it was a real goodie – and welcome in the exciting new vintage with all its promise and potential of being the best yet. Of course, if you even have a drop of Scottish blood, real or even figurative, then New Year also means Hogmanay where you get all the celebratory fun + the chance to drink fine Scotch whisky in good company too. As if you needed an excuse!
The Macallan are renowned for their commitment to exceptional wood management during the creation of their single malt whiskies as you can tell from the Double Cask range A Night on Earth is joining. The brand’s core range, defining its signature taste, the Double Cask is a perfectly balanced single malt whisky matured in both American and European sherry seasoned oak casks, with each creating a distinctive flavour profile.
The Macallan A Night On Earth tasting notes
Inspired by Hogmanay, this unique single malt’s natural colour of warm ember pays tribute to the role of fire at this special time of year. Capturing the universal feeling of optimism and bonding at New Year, The Macallan A Night On Earth is a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn. The whisky’s vanilla sweetness references traditional shortbread biscuits, often gifted and eaten at Hogmanay, while notes of dried orange and spice represent the flavours and aromas that fill homes across Speyside, and throughout Scotland, during the festive season.
Making magnificent single malt whisky is a very exacting task, and when you are imparting as much wood flavouring as The Macallan do then it is doubly so!
