Add on Adrenaline
What might be a dose of adrenaline-inducing good news for Porsche aficionados down under, is that the German marque has teamed up with legendary Manthey-Racing GmbH, to unleash a suite of performance upgrades that promise to transform already formidable Porsche GT models into track-devouring beasts.
With a trophy cabinet bursting with motor-racing accolades, including numerous wins at the grueling Nürburgring, Manthey-Racing brings the goods to the collaboration with Porsche in the form of a series of Porsche equipment accessory packs, designed to ramp up the performance of the selected GT models including the 911 GT2 RS (991.2), 911 GT3 RS (991.2), 911 GT3 (992), and 718 GT4 RS (982). Each of these models is already a potent concoction of power and precision by the way.
The kits cover a range of aerodynamic enhancements, including splitters, spoilers, and diffusers that not only reduce lift but also carve through the air with the finesse of a hot scalpel, which helps ensure that every ounce of power is translated directly where it needs to be on the track.
But the aerodynamic traction wrangling doesn’t stop there. Another feature of the Manthey kits are chassis enhancements which ensure that the vehicles not only go fast but also handle with the precision, agility and reaction of a gazelle on a sugar rush. The suspension components also get a fine-tuning to allow more of a connection between the driver, machine, and tarmac. The braking system also gets an upgrade in the form of street/track brake pads, and stainless brake lines helping you to stop when you need to or maybe more importantly negotiate corners better.
The development of these kits has been a gruelling process of countless laps on the unforgiving turns and straights of the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Each tweak and adjustment finetuning the final result. Understandably after all of this. Installation of these kits is not left to the unskilled. It requires a level of expertise and precision that only certified Porsche Centres can offer. In New Zealand, all four Porsche Centres have risen to the occasion, with technicians trained under the watchful eyes of Manthey’s experts, ensuring that each kit is installed with the precision and care that befits the Porsche and Manthey names.
“We’re pleased to introduce these Performance Kits into our market. We have a strong pool of GT customers who enjoy taking their car to the track, so it’s great to be able to offer them a solution that allows extra aerodynamics with factory-approved accessories” said Ehrin Wardlow, Service and Network Development Manager, Porsche New Zealand.
“Our certified technicians had the pleasure of learning how to install the kits under the guidance of a German trainer who came to visit directly from Manthey-Racing. This means our Centre staff are skilled to install this specialised equipment in the precise way that Manthey-Racing intended when designing it.”
The inaugural installation of a Manthey Performance Kit on a 991 GT2 RS in New Zealand was spearheaded by a specialised technician from Manthey Training, who made the journey from Germany specifically for this purpose. And what a souvenir he left behind.
