Kiwis Don’t need an DMC to go back to the future anymore.
Only a couple thousand Delorians ever got made, of that number only a handful are knocking around New Zealand, last count from a decade ago pegged it at about 14 registered. Now these local DMCs really have the opportunity to go back to the future of 2015 and get outfitted with electric drivetrain systems by the recently expanded UK-based Electrogenic.
Their drop in conversion kits are being made available here via Franklin Motor Company and can be outfitted into a series of iconic models – including the original Mini, classic Porsche 911, Land Rover Defender and Series models, Jaguar E-Type (XKE),Mazda MX-5 (Miata), and of course the DeLorean DMC-12. Electrogenic’s packages are unique in that they are designed to fit entirely into the existing architecture of a vehicle. They are tailored specifically for each model, with no cutting or drilling required to the original car. They are also entirely reversible, enabling the car to be returned to its original internal combustion engine specification at a future point, if desired.
That means there’s no need to butcher your baby, which is a sentence I thought I’d never thought I’d have to write.
