Now Aucklanders Can Store their Supercars Like Their Matchbox Collection
A garage can be a place where potent machinery sits in the dark, waiting for an infrequent weekend. Some owners store their own collections, some access the best vehicle via clubs. A new partnership in Auckland brings those two worlds into the same space. A while ago I covered MotorShare – the club providing a ‘menu’ of super cars at your fingertips. Now MotorShare is moving its operations into Matchbox, a premium car storage facility.
The move connects two distinct sides of car culture. Matchbox provides a secure, pristine environment designed to protect private vehicles. MotorShare provides a fleet of high-end performance cars available for the road. Together, they create a smart combined hub.

The word is that MotorShare clients used Matchbox to house their personal vehicles. At the same time, MotorShare co-founders trusted the facility to store assets from their own fleet. Bringing the two businesses together simply made sense.
There’s also a new model for MotorShare. The club is introducing a service that allows selected, privately owned vehicles to join its rental fleet. For owners, this turns an idle asset into a resource. For the wider community, it increases the variety of performance cars available for the road. This I think is a good thing!

Matchbox built their facility to store quality cars. By integrating MotorShare into the building, members can store the vehicles they own, and access the vehicles they do not..
What got M2 interested was a collaboration that extends past car storage into the stuff that really matters – the driving. The teams are developing joint driving days, regional events, and track experiences. Matchbox becomes the central venue where drivers gather before heading out to the road in their gorgeous cars.

What do we think? We like it!
