What’s your morning routine?
Either up around 4.45am for a 5km walk or run, read online news over breakfast and off to work around 6.30am for an early start. On days I exercise after work, up around 5.45am same routine.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Walk the Camino de Santiago trail, visit Alaska, live for an extended period in Italy.
What advice would you give your 20 year-old self?
Not sure I would change much as life’s experiences shape you – and I wouldn’t have listened to myself back then anyway!
How do you stay motivated?
Have short, medium and long term goals and revise them regularly as you achieve.
If you didn’t need money, what would you do?
Travel with my family, tick off the great walks of NZ and the world, keep in touch with friends and extended family.
What is the secret to success?
Keep a positive attitude, learn from your and others mistakes and don’t look back!
What is the worst mistake you’ve made and how did you fix it?
Listening to a mate who convinced me I was a better skier than I am – fixed by the lovely nurses in A&E
What is your advice for people to fund their dream?
Work hard, have a clear plan, seek out a mentor and be prepared to take on both advice and external investors – after plenty of due diligence.
What is the best bit of advice, or quote, that resonates with you?
Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed in the things you didn’t do than the things you did.
