All Aboard the Orient Express
The much-loved and admired Orient Express, steeped in tradition and history, has become a huge cultural symbol in the past century or so. Poets, novelists, and painters have romanticised it, and all walks of life yearn to ride on it. As a train-lover myself, I find this exceptionally exciting.
140 years ago, the first of the Orient Express trains were launched. With their beautiful cabins and historic carriages, they truly stood the test of time.
Recently, the French multinational company, Accor, has revolutionised the famous train with a re-imagined take. Never-before-seen images have been shown in an immersive-exhibition in Paris in October.
The exhibition, called Orient Express Revelation, took visitors onto the famous train through a digital space. The fabulous design, created by architect, Maxime d’Angeac, was created using the 1920’s original design teamed together with contemporary luxury.
By using the ‘rail’ motif, d’Angeac recreated the interior using a stoneboard technique with stunning additions.
