Books: Must Reads For April
Gallery Of The Dead
Chris Carter
Robert Hunter, the insomniac genius detective, is back with a novel that fulfills the cover’s proclamation that it is ‘as addictive as a box-set’. I agree, I was bingeing this book at every opportunity. Excellent characters and plot.
The Caller
Chris Carter
Don’t be put off by the tacky title – Chris Carter’s characters and writing are excellent! It’s a classic, gruesome whodunnit murder mystery. The main character, Robert Hunter, is a clever detective, up against some equally clever villains. this is an easy escapist read… it took me just a week.
Red Sparrow
Jason Matthews
Retrofitted with a simple yet striking cover with the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence (no, we are not related), from the blockbuster out last month, this is the book the film was adapted from. So, the question is: do you read the book then see the film or vice-versa? Matthews is the real deal, a retired CIA operative, with a 33-year career, which made some of the plot lines even more scary as they could be real. To be honest, a lot of it made sense, but then so do many conspiracy theories.
