Clothes for The Last of Us
Pedro Pascal has gone from transporting animatronic baby mascots for Star Wars to transporting tweens for HBO. HBO’s take on The Last of Us has been nothing short of a triumph. It has succeeded where all others have failed, successfully adapting a video game into a critically acclaimed show. That’s a tall order, but if any game was going to manage that, it was going to be The Last Of Us.
But where does Pedro Pascal’s Joel get his tough but sturdy look? Specifically those boots. Well, it looks like he’s a discerning looter because what he’s wearing throughout the show is a pair of Elk Trackers from Irish Setter. These boots are 10-inch waterproof leather boots and will set you back US$239.99.
With a waterproof membrane, antismell tech, a steel shank and Goodyear Welts on the sole these are a sturdy pair of boots, although perhaps not something you’d waltz to work in.
They do pair nicely with his jacket, which is equally as hardy and at home in a post apocalyptic setting where utility and protection against the elements is essential. The jacket is a Flannel-Lined Waxed Trucker Jacket by Flint & Tinder, and goes for US$298.
It’s constructed with a waxed and weather-resistant Martexin 7 oz. sailcloth, but is a comfortable fit as it’s also completely lined on the interior.
Shopping his watch is a little bit harder. Technically he’s wearing the TLOU X MSTR special edition which only ran 1000 limited edition pieces and released back in the day to celebrate the game launch. It’s made of silver metal and is powered by a Seiko quartz movement. The strap is an olive-coloured Nato style nylon band. It’s directly modelled on the in-game model. You’ll be looking at a significant markup picking one of these up now, but in the watch world it’s kind of trash. You’re essentially buying a Timex weekender indiglo, which are far more readily available. You’ll just have to hunt down the strap to match.
His shirt is perhaps the most modest part of the ensemble, being just a $15 Wrangler slim fit denim shirt from Walmart. Apparently even if you were in a position to pop into a Walmart, you’d be out of luck anyway, with it selling out everywhere. Pictured above is the Denim Western Shirt in Medium Blue by Todd Snyder. It may be a cowboy western style shirt but its denim comes from Italy. It features yellow stitching throughout, pearl snaps down the middle and a classic three button cuff. I guess Joel didn’t pick this one because the Walmart was easier to raid.
I think we’ve given you everything you need to cosplay as Joel while soaking in the show.
