Daisy Edgar-Jones – No Twists Here
Daisy Edgar-Jones on the red carpet for the London premier of Twisters.
The 26 year old Edgar-Jones has been working hard these last few years to make an impact on the industry. So far she’s already received two Golden Globe nominations, one for her starring role in the Normal People miniseries and another for Under the Banner of Heaven. Prior to twisters perhaps her biggest role was the mystery film Where the Crawdads Sing.
Her latest film Twisters pits her as the main character beside Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos. It’s a fun popcorn movie with an infectious script that nerds out about tornados. In fact it was so infectious that she became a stormchaser herself after production wrapped. Although they didn’t need to go far for the real deal during filming either. On more than one occasion during a shoot a tornado formed.
“One day, we were filming this scene where a tornado rips through a farmers market, and they made this amazing set full of these stalls. And this crazy windstorm came in and took the entire set out,” Edgar-Jones told Variety. “We were hunkered down in the shops nearby, watching the whole set be destroyed, only for us to then film it being destroyed 20 minutes later when they set it back up again.”
Another time the pair were filming a scene where they’re looking off into the distance hunting a “mothership” mesocyclone cloud when one sprouted right behind them. “We looked like two of the most idiotic storm chasers because we were like, ‘Where is it?’ and it was literally just there,” Edgar-Jones recalled for Variety. “We all had to leave and it produced a tornado. Isaac actually went out chasing and saw it. We weren’t allowed to for insurance reasons.”
