Defining A Classic
There are two famous boots in this world. Maybe three if we’re counting the classic kiwi gumboot. Doc Martens defined the punks and Timberlands defined everybody else. Timberlands and it’s iconic yellow look has been gracing the feet of everybody from tradies, hikers and superstars alike since 1973.
When you think of them it’s hard not to recall them just as much from Kanye paparazzi shots to dudes with high viz on. In the last year alone the brand has found itself collaborating with the likes of Louis Vuitton and Wales Bonner. To celebrate 50 years of grit, innovation, and timeless style Timberlands has brought together four world-renowned creatives–Naomi Campbell, Teddy Swims, Slawn, and Kai-Isaiah Jamal–to remind us all what it means to be a true original, and to you know, look good in the nude too.
The campaign was shot by groundbreaking photographer Jamie Morgan, who famously shot Naomi Campbell as a budding young model back in 1984. In this full circle moment, two British icons come together for this powerful portrayal of the Original Yellow Boot.
“Normally, one makes a person look cool with clothes and styling, so to strip all that away and create dynamic fashion portraits with nothing but Timberlands was a little daunting.”says Morgan. “Luckily, with the help of brilliant casting and the fact that Timberland yellow boots are so iconic and great looking, I think we created a set of powerful, honest, and provocative images.”
“My work has been called iconic and myself referred to as a ‘living legend,’ which I find extremely flattering; but it is certainly not for me to judge if it’s true! If you stay faithful to your vision and have integrity in your work then maybe, after a time and if you’re still creatively relevant, your work might have earned the status of Iconic.”
