Designed For Those Who Live Fast – TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph I F1
Tag Heuer’s booth at Watches and Wonders was completely married to motorsport with two F1 cars decorating the booth. Their attachment to the sport goes almost all the way back to the debut of the TAG Heuer Monaco famously being worn by Steve McQueen in the 1971 film Le Mans. From then on they shifted away from passive branding to active involvement. 75 years after Formula 1 started Tag Heuer is recommitting itself with the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph | F1.
Inside is its beating heart, the automatic split-seconds chronograph Calibre TH81-00. It’s one of the lightest and advanced chronograph calibers ever made by TAG Heuer. The oscillating weight is fashioned in the iconic TAG Heuer shield shape and features a brushed finish as well as a hand-painted white and red kerb-inspired design. They aren’t shy either, from the back you can have unobstructed views into what makes it tick. The case is made of White Ceramic which has been machined for precise sharp refinements finished by hand.
Stylistically it looks like it belongs on the track with sleek white ceramic case, crown and pushers mirroring the aerodynamics of a high-performance racer.
The timepiece is equipped with a white calfskin strap embossed with a textile pattern and features a double-deployant clasp in grade-5 titanium with an easy-adjustment link. Presented in a specially designed wood lacquered box inspired by the signature colors of Formula 1, the packaging features white and red hues, perfectly complementing the timepiece.
Only 10 pieces have been produced and individually numbered. Being one of the best doesn’t mean being one of many.
