Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental issues that we face, not only in terms of pollution and biodiversity impact but because most plastic is made from non-renewable petrochemicals the extraction process and conversion into plastic releases carbon into the atmosphere, adding to climate change. and while we have a lot of cleaning up to do, we also need to make sure that change the situation at its source. One New Zealand company that is leading the charge is ecostore, which has since 2014 moved to sustainably produced sugar plastic for its packaging. We talk to CEO Pablo Kraus about what it means for a company to live up to its values and the potential for enterprise to have a positive impact on the world.
