Everything Apple Has Coming For Us
Another year, another keynote full of new numbers on iPhones. Here’s everything Apple announced that we think you should keep an eye on.
iPhone 11
The headline act is always the new iPhone. The regular iPhone 11 will come with duel cameras, but this year the bravest move was the telephoto (triple camera) on the back of the iPhone 11 Pro. The new setup offers ultra-wide cameras with a combined 4x optical zoom as well as videos in 4k at 60fps. To keep up with the grunt required to handle that sort of quality, the iPhone 11 is packed with an A13 Bionic GPU. The A13 is the most powerful chip you’ll find in any phone at the moment, even more powerful than Huawei’s Kirin 990. Apple also tried selling people on the idea of slowmo selfies, which they’ve dubbed slofies. If that doesn’t light your fire then that’s okay, you weren’t their demographic for that bit anyway.
All this power doesn’t come at the expense of battery life though, expect 5 more hours of life out of the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Last but not least it will come in a range of new colours, the most popular appearing to be the new Midnight Green, according to early insights.
Watch Series 5
Apple Watch has made some advancements of its own, including an always-on display that drops down to a 1hz refresh rate. New health studies in its monitoring suite include heart and movement, Menstrual-cycle tracking and hearing. If the room gets too loud, it’ll let you know. Or if your heart rate is going to either extreme, it’ll helpfully tell you you’re dying. If you do take a stumble, it has fall detection, which logs your location and sends it to emergency personnel and emergency contacts if you remain unresponsive for 60 seconds.
Apple Arcade
With all the added power these devices are offering, Apple is making sure we can take full advantage of it with the new Apple Arcade that’s rolled out with iOS 13. A low monthly subscription that supports five family members opens up the entire arcade to take advantage of. The games are pretty hefty and can be played across Apple TV, to the Mac itself when you aren’t on the go on your iOS device. This provides a much nicer environment for gaming, with no ads, and no nickle and diming mechanics to try and get every cent out of you.
iPad (2019)
It’s time for the seventh generation iPad with it’s sleek 10.2 inch retina display and support for the full-sized Smart Keyboard. With the A10 Fusion chip powering the whole thing, it’s time to pair your Xbox or PS4 controller via Bluetooth to really see what the iPad can do, gaming-wise. It’s also enough power to comfortably edit 4k video shot off your iPhone 11. It’s own cameras include built-in FaceTime HD cameras and an 8-megapixel back camera.
