Everything To Watch Before The End Of The Year
Last Night In Soho – In Cinemas 11 Nov
As a director, Edgar Wright is a certified genius. He’s never missed. From his Cornetto Trilogy (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End), to his musically inclined trips through Baby Driver and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. He just knows how to layer his movies with subtle comedy, off the wall twists, and a thick coating of easter eggs plopped over the top.
Last Night In Soho follows an aspiring fashion designer played by Kiwi actress Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Old) who is suddenly able to enter the 1960s, and inhabit the body of a young bombshell singer played by Anya Taylor‑Joy (The Queen’s Gambit, Peaky Blinders). But the past has a way of following her back, and things quickly become a living nightmare, with the film devolving into a psychological horror.
Wright co-wrote the script with the mastermind behind 1917, Krysty Wilson-Cairns. With the sort of talent he’s wielding, we’re about to have yet another cult classic unleashed upon us.
