Foiled Again
Touching the water is so passé, Not even the America’s Cup bothers with that anymore, so why should we? Designed by Swedish firm, Candela, the new P-8 Voyager is going into production at the end of 2022. When it rolls out the other end of the production line in Sweden, it’s sure to not make a splash as it silently zooms across the ocean surface.
The P-8 Voyager is designed to be a silent, long-range high performance electric boat.
Blasting at 22 knots, it can reach over 50+ NM on a single charge, out-ranging the competition handily with all credit due to the hydrofoil design, cutting down water friction by 80%. The Candela C-POD boat motor is being touted as a longest-lasting ever built. Submerged, the electric motors emit no sound at all, so there’s really nothing between you and the rolling sea, except perhaps fresh air.
Auto Stability via the onboard Flight Controller maintains a beautifully smooth ride. Adjusting for weather, you can either pop the sunroof back for an open-yacht experience or keep everything buckled down and pumping air conditioning to be comfortable in any situation for all six passengers.
On a 3-phase outlet, you’re looking at a 2 hour charge time. Just don’t go expecting any wall plugs out there in the gulf.
