Get Windows 11 For Free When It Drops With These Compatible Laptops
Windows 11 is rolling out on October 8th for free for all Windows 10 users, but there is a catch. Windows 11 has some pretty strict guidelines for what it will install onto, and some older machines are going to be left behind in the dust. You can actually find out if your current rig is compatible with Windows 11 over on their official site and using their PC Health Check App.
Here’s the minimum specs you’re going to need:
- CPU: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
- RAM: 4GB
- Storage: 64GB of larger
- System firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable
- TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
- Graphics card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver
- Display: High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
- Internet: Windows 11 Home edition requires internet connectivity and a Microsoft account to complete device setup on first use.
If your machine doesn’t stack up, maybe it’s time to consider an upgrade. Acer has an entire range of new compatible laptops that have you covered. Hitting these specs mean they’re also vastly more secure than laptops that will miss out on upgrading. We took the liberty of heading through Harvey Norman and picking out our favourites to pick up for people that just want a solid work machine.
