Getting the Right Vives
It’s curious that everyone likes the smell of fresh cut grass, or the smell the world gets after a good rain but rarely does anyone go out of their way to actually make an effort to smell like this. While no perfumer is crazy enough to bottle “wet smell” they are at least willing to namecheck them.
Christine Nagel, director of creation and olfactory heritage for Hermès Parfums has developed a scent for the contemporary man who is at home in urban nature. The result is H24 Herbes Vives.
“I was inspired by the happy smell of nature after the rain, an aroma at once vegetal and earthy, fresh and musky. That unique moment when nature and the city, still drenched with water, release new scents and take on new colours.”
The perfumer has shown an eye for invisible details, hybridizing nature and technology to combine fresh herbs – savory, sorrel, hemp and parsley – whose aroma increases dramatically after a rain shower, with pear granita. Finally a dash of Physcool offers a hint of mint that leaves a sensation of freshness on the skin.
H24 Herbes Vives is available in three sizes: 15 ml (selections of travel sprays), 50 ml, 100 ml and a 200 ml refill.
