How to be an exceptional achiever in 2019
By now you have already read a heap of articles and encouragement to set goals for 2019. So have you written up your goals for the coming year? YES or NO?
If you haven’t, I implore you to sit down this coming week and do this critically important thing. There are many articles written about this process but if you want a quick reminder refer to a couple of articles I wrote in M2 Dec 2017, Jan 2018.
Many people get this first part done and then find it hard to stay focused and achieve their goals. Why you may ask? Because these goals are things you think you want to achieve. It is only when these goals originate from your inner being (soul) that you will be able to tap into all your resources and only then will you feel absolutely committed to achieve them!
Some of the things that exceptional achievers that are at one with their purpose say:
- there is a point past which they will not compromise (their must have)
- when you know what motivates you and why, you know you must carry on
- know your rhythm, color and vision as though it is always with you
- love and maintain a deep passion
- know your default and the reason for your existence
These are the power and energy that gives them extra purpose and conviction. For example, Sam notices he has put on a few kilos each year for the last four years. Every New Year he has said he wants to loose weight and get fit. The last three years he has started but as soon as he gets busy, he finds his resolve melting and by mid-February, he has quietly reverted back to his normal lifestyle. In mid-2018, Sam had a little health scare and his doctor told him he needed to make some lifestyle changes and loose 20 kg if he wanted to enjoy his kids growing up. That really knocked Sam’s reality and the thought of not being there for his two kids and not being around to see them growing up was not palatable. He immediately got stuck in and by January 2019 when this was written, he had lost an average of 2 kg a month and now only needed to loose 8 more kgs.
Sam has now set himself a further goal of doing some physical activity with his kids every weekend and they too have trimmed down. Sam set a number of other goals for the year ahead and says he can’t believe how his whole commitment to achieving those goals is completely different. My assessment of this is that he has learnt what motivates him! Well done Sam!
Here is a suggestion on how to listen to your soul:
- Write down all your desires, wants and goals without judgement- write them all down
- Pick out the six things that you value higher than the rest
- Then rate each of the six things 1 to 10 with 10 being an absolutely must do.
- Observe what goes through your head as you do this, these feelings and thoughts are reflective of the emotional prompts that are messages from your soul.
Never settle for one or two messages from your soul but rather use this as the starting point of learning to listen to your unique power. The magic that is within each of us that most of us have never learnt how to use. Get turned on in 2019 and start today by listening to your soul.
