How To Maintain The Classic Pompadour Look
It’s the start of 2021, you know what that means. No, not the end of a pandemic, that’s not how that sort of thing works. It also means a fresh start style-wise, and since we’re lucky enough in New Zealand to actually be able to mingle, we sent a few associates down to BarberShopCo to get some new looks. We left the decision making in the hands of the professionals, and I have to say, the results were phenomenal.
BarberShopCo barber Jacques had to pull double duty during the shoot but he handled himself well pulling off two looks in quick succession. The style he rolled with for Simon is a Classic Slicked Back Pompadour. The difference between this Pompadour and the one given to Stephen in a previous article was that Simon’s fades at the back, which is a little more classic than the statement pulled off by Stephens boldly defined V at the back.
You’ll be pushing all the height to the front with this look to give it that ‘pomp’ look. The ‘adour’ is what everyone else will be doing when they see how you look when you enter the room.

Styling essentials for this look: Bowery Holdfast & King Brown Grooming Spray
Bowery Holdfast is a staple and perfect for medium holds and beachy textured looks that end in a matte finish. Take a little in your hand and then rub together, after you’ve warmed it up run it through your hair starting at the roots. Once you’re finished use King Brown Grooming spray to give your hair some volume and hold throughout the day. The Pomp party never finishes early.
