I Spy The Universe
Scheduled to launch in 2021, the James Webb Space Telescope is going to be the next step in space exploration.
As the successor to the Hubble Space Station, this telescope is an infrared observatory designed to look at the outer stars and galaxies. The telescope’s primary mirror is comprised of 18 hexagonal mirror segments made of gold-coated beryllium to reflect the heat of the sun so as not to fry-out the instruments in the machine. The Webb Telescope has a price tag of $9.6 billion with the gravity of its importance. The JWST has had a pretty rough history with delays and was supposed to launch in July this year, but it it was delayed to 2021. The Telescope is hoping to retrace the stars that formed in our universe after the almighty Big Bang and evolution of life.
