Is NZ Aging Faster?
Age is that demon that no one can run away from. We are born, we live and unfortunately, we die. Be it our ever growing population, or our aging labour force, it seems like we’re trying to squeeze as much as we can from this life before we all drop. According to a Radio NZ statistic, by 2050, up to 27 percent of New Zealanders will be over 65. Is Aotearoa turning into a retirees paradise? Regular exercise and healthy eating can help with the aging process. Being active more often and maintaining a good schedule for sleep can be two sure-fire ways of maintaining a youthful glow.
Veggies & fruits to lower high blood pressure
High blood pressure is one of the major problems that are taking out our fellow men. It could be the stress from life or work, but we need to make sure that we’re keeping as healthy as possible.
Reportedly, there are five foods that you’ve got to start chewing on for lower blood pressure. These include berries, bananas, beetroot, dark chocolate and kiwifruit, that all contain antioxidants called anthocyanins that have blood pressure reduction qualities, according to the US National Library of Medicine.
Diet that could reduce depression
Safety foods are always a go-to response in a time of crisis. Your better half just took off with your best mate and pet parakeet? You’ve lost your job? You are $500K in debt? We wouldn’t blame you for automatically reaching for a pizza or cream-filled donut. Or maybe you’re just having a bad day. We’re not here to judge, but did you know that certain diets can reduce depressive thoughts.
Foods that contain Vitamin C or E or beta-carotene (a pink-red-orange pigment) in fruit can help. Things like broccoli, vegetable oils, pumpkin or margarine. Under extreme stress, our bodies naturally release things called ‘free radicals’ that break down cells. Studies show that our brains are the first target, which explains the depressed thoughts. Battle the free radicals by eating healthier.
