Jade Lynn On Advice for Your 20 Year-old Self
We talk to Jade Lynn, Sales Trader at CMC Markets, about advice for his 20-year-old-self, the secret to success and his favourite restaurant.
What advice would you give your 20 year-old self?
There’s not much I would change from those days, but ‘whatever you start, don’t stop!’ The inspiration tide comes and goes and when it comes, you have to latch on and ride the wave as it can disappear as quickly as it arrives. The less ‘what-ifs’ the better.
What is the secret to success?
For me, whatever success means and however it is measured… dare to dream big and remain steadfast focused with firm resolution until that dream is crystalised into reality. Dream big and reach for the stars, if you fail you might just land on the moon.
What is the worst mistake you’ve made and how did you fix it?
Engaging in activities or adventures with unsuitable people. I either ended the situation or it was ended for me.
What is your advice for people to fund their dream?
Have at your dreams with passion and never give up! Where there is a will, there is a way.
What is the best bit of advice, or quote, that resonates with you?
Given my background and journey – “Run, you can easily challenge the pride of frightening distance.”
What’s your favourite restaurant?
It changes regularly. I do enjoy 1947 on Federal St and Cassia.
There are so many good restaurants around Auckland now – Café Hanoi, Poni Room, The Lodge, Saxon & Parole… the list goes on. As a vege it’s easier to dine out now.
How do you keep up to date with current affairs?
For my work, I have to be across what’s happening locally and globally, so Forex Live, CNBC and Twitter feeds of influential characters and Telegram channels.
What is the secret of living a longer, more successful life?
Not sure how long I’m going to live yet. I feel better having been a vegetarian for over 26 years and exercising daily.
Plus I’m hoping if life were measured by how many breaths we take, then the many years of past meditation and stillness that comes with it may count for a few extra years that I otherwise wouldn’t have had.
What makes you feel alive?
Hair-raising adrenaline. But in the absence of, then a burning session of HIIT such as F45 and I’m revved up for the day.
