How To Kickstart Your Personal Growth
Achieving success is within everyone’s reach but beyond most people’s grasp, so contemplate these 10 questions.
Are you a teacher or a student?
By virtue of the way society treats these two things separately, you may feel you need to be one or the other? I would propose the best teachers likely see themselves as students but define themselves with their perception of whatever has the highest status. I challenge you in these incredible times of change and opportunity to continually search out new learnings and always think of yourself as a student. If you are teaching an absolute process, you can be absolute but in other areas consider being students together, open to new answers while sharing what you have already learnt.
Do you really know what you want?
It is impossible to get what you want if you don’t know what it is and then increase your strike rate by writing it down. You are 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams if you write them down.
How accountable are you?
I have different people that hold me to account in different areas of my life. My business partner holds me to account on my business plan. I have experienced huge improvement in my results just by doing this and I can absolutely guarantee you will too.
What do you do to maintain gratitude and to help others?
In the beginning, this may be nothing more than saying “thanks” to yourself when you are showering each day for all your good fortune, your health, your friends, having enough food, having freedom…. If you are a religious person you may do this as a prayer. No matter what your circumstances, there is always plenty to be grateful for. With enough practice you will find gratitude becomes part of your being and people will be even more generous to you as a reaction to your gratuitous nature.
What distractions could you eliminate?
Your distractions are energy and resource stealers! How well you can focus will directly reflect in the scale of your results and how long it takes to achieve them.
What could you do more of to make things happen faster, better, cheaper?
This is my favorite question and no, I am not a sadist. Ask yourself this question every day, there is always something more you can do and the harder you work on it the greater your success.
Do you ask for help? Who could help you and why would they want to?
Some of us seriously underestimate the value of asking someone to help, be it a friend, a staff member, or a specialist. By asking for help from someone, you are acknowledging their expertise and opinion which will make a big difference. Think about how you can show your gratitude when their help makes the difference.
How committed are you to achieve this goal? If you aren’t completely on board, ask yourself do you need to increase my commitment or just stop now?
This isn’t as hard as you think, you just have to be honest, am I 100% onto this?
What can you do to improve your ability to go the distance?
These are things like improve your diet, maintain your exercise regime, your mental wellbeing – take regular time out. Could you benefit from meditation (hell YES)?
Are you always using your uniqueness?
We are all different with significantly diverse strengths and weaknesses. Celebrate who you are, be confident about what you are good at and what makes you, you!
Try a few things at a time, chill out with it and play around to see what results you can get.
