Lani Fogelberg: Expert Advice With An Outside Perspective
Everyone likes to think that, when it comes to their business, they know best. However, there are endless example to prove there’s something to be said for an outside set of eyes and the unique perspective of someone without an intense investment (both literally and figuratively) in the business and how it is being run. In the same way we go to doctors and nurses to seek out advice on our bodies and mechanics for our cars, business owners use consultancy groups to diagnose areas where their ventures are in need of a bit of treatment, whether they just needed a few proverbial screws tightening up or a full-on emergency surgery is required. Fogelberg Consulting hasn’t been in this space for all that long, but in the two years since its founding, it has already made a big impact on New Zealand businesses. Launched in 2019 by Kiwi businesswoman Lani Fogelberg, the consultancy takes in all comers and uses Fogelberg’s wealth of experience to guide and direct its clients to more profitable and prosperous outcomes.
One of the aspects of its work that Fogelberg Consulting has made a focal point is their honesty and forthrightness in their analysis of a business and its potential weaknesses, something which is encourages its clients to bring to their own internal analysis. The firm offers a range of consultancy services, both online and in-person, and pays just as much attention to its small startup clients as it does its industry leaders. Fogelberg Consulting also emphasises its adaptability, having found success working with business clients in a litany of industries ranging from transport to construction, financial and professional services to manufacturing, medical to hospitality.
One could argue Fogelberg herself brings an inherently unique and valuable perspective for a lot of businesses, as the presence of a young woman is likely lacking in more male-dominated industries. Her experience primarily comes in the world of finance, with her longest and most impactful contribution coming for Australian financial services outfit Credit One. In 2013, at the young age of 23, Fogelberg played a key role in the expansion of Credit One to New Zealand, and she went on to serve as New Zealand Manager of the company until she left the role in 2019 seeking a new challenge. She founded Fogelberg Consultancy in the same year and quickly found her service in high demand, in part due to the widespread struggle that businesses were experiencing in 2020 due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Fogelberg has seen her business rapidly expand in a short space of time, turning her into one of the nation’s most highly regarded and sought-after business consultants.
Fogelberg also sits as a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and is a licensed Financial Advice Provider, specializing in Investment.
