Look No Further: The Next Gen of Fish Finder Has Landed
Simrad Yachting’s newest multifunction display (MFD) – Simrad NSX heralds in the next level for chart plotters and fishfinders with a powerhouse of new tech. Available in 7″, 9″ and 12″ display sizes the NSX gets a brand new Operating System with an intuitive touch screen experience and clear images. It packs in new charts including generation C-MAP DISCOVER X and REVEAL X marine-optimised charts which contours in amazingly crisp clarity. High-Resolution Bathymetry capability also shows accurate contour lines down to a 1-foot level of detail with compatible charts. You can also overlay satellite imagery which comes in handy when looking for moorings or navigating through tricky areas.
You can make all of this punch and capability your own with drag-and-drop screen customisation and fully editable instruments bar. An “Activity Bar” that lives along the right side of the display makes it a quick switch from radar to sonar or the other functions. The NSX also supports the latest sonar products including Active Imaging, CHIRP, SideScan/DownScan Imaging and FishReveal.
The display will also respond to all weather and lighting conditions with enhanced day and night modes. There is also extensive 3rd Party App Integration providing diversity in integration and the ability to support multiple vendors. On the networking and connectivity side of things, the NSX includes easy connection to your smartphone and modem plug-in for additional connectivity to devices and an ethernet port for full networking capabilities in the future.
To really help with the fishing side of things, you can utilise NSX to view high-resolution images below and to the sides with Active Imaging and CHIRP sonar, SideScan/DownScan Imaging and FishReveal and search even greater depths with a wide range of compatible transducers. Users can integrate easily with their radar and get the most out of their AutoPilot systems by connecting to Autorouting. You just place your finger on the chart to create a waypoint and the Autorouting will create a course that safely routes the vessel around any landmass or objects.
Of course, it’s one thing to have a whole lot of technology at your fingertips but it’s another thing to actually able to use it. Luckily the NSX is as approachable as it is smart. In fact, it comes with a Setup Wizard that will guide you through the entire setup process, including engine and tank setup, AutoPilot optimisation, radar calibration dockside and on the water.
