The Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph SBGC240
M2 brings you its top watch picks in a series featuring the best of this year’s luxury timepiece releases – The Grand Seiko Spring Drive Chronograph SBGC240.
A special edition brought out to celebrate 140 years since the creation of the company that would become Seiko. This Grand Seiko Spring Drive chronograph SBGC240 may be the most precise chronograph in the world as it measures elapsed time up to twelve hours with an accuracy rate of ± one second a day. Allying the high functionality of the Spring Drive chronograph Calibre 9R86 with a new design and a new combination of materials, the result is a sports watch that looks as good in the boardroom as it does on the sports field.
Featuring a twelve-edged bezel, a zirconia ceramic outer layer and 18k gold base draw the eye into a pure black dial highlighted by gold hands and hour markers. The 18k yellow gold chronograph buttons are proud and designed to make operation easy. Inside, the Calibre 9R86 has more than 400 parts while the chronograph functions are controlled by column wheel and vertical clutch systems that ensure the glide motion hands stop at the instant a button is clicked. The case has been given a hairline finish while the sides showcase distortion-free Zaratsu polishing. This Grand Seiko Spring Drive chronograph SBGC240 timepiece comes with a bracelet featuring Grand Seiko initials in 18k gold plus an additional crocodile strap with gold colour stitches.
Available as a limited edition of 500 at Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected retailers from July.
