Age 27
Occupation: Head Chef at Lula Inn
What’s your morning routine?
A PT session at Les Mills and then straight into the kitchen for work.
What’s the top three things on your bucket list?
1. Nevis Bungy jump
2. Visit Old Trafford
3. Eat at Alinea restaurant in Chicago
What advice would you give your younger self 10 years-ago?
Leave school earlier and start my career at 16. Starting in the kitchen at this age would have given me a great head start in my career.
How do you stay motivated?
My girlfriend of course, but also the people I cook for. Knowing people have enjoyed my food and seeing them leave with a smile on their face makes it all worth doing and motivates me to get back in the kitchen every day.
If you didn’t need money and didn’t need to work, what would you do?
I would probably still be a chef. Cooking is my passion, it’s what I love to do.
What is the secret to success?
Happiness, determination and the will power to accomplish anything.
What is the best bit of advice, or quote, that resonates with you?
Treat everyone and everything with respect no matter what it is, no one is better than the other, we need everyone to make things work.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Meredith’s on Dominion road. I’m sad that it’s now closed.
What is the secret of living a longer, more successful life?
Happiness and amazing company. If you have a close knit of friends and colleagues, you can accomplish anything. They will help motivate you and make you more successful.
What makes you feel alive?
Cooking, it’s just my thing. I love finding new ideas and recipes then making them my own and executing a great dish. Just ask my friend Mason, he loves it when I create something new that he can try at work.
