Man On The Street – Chris Buhmann
Age: 38
Occupation: Founder of Protein Enriched Coffee Solutions
What advice would you give your 20 year-old self?
Start going to the gym more often, otherwise you’ll get tubby. Also, don’t compromise on what you want to achieve.
How do you stay motivated?
If you have to get motivation to get going, maybe change your situation.
If you didn’t need money, what would you do?
As much or as little as I wanted, I guess.
What is the secret to success?
Anyone can be successful, you just have to work out what you want to achieve, work out your strategy accordingly and do it. It sounds easy, but putting in the work will put off the majority of people.
Also, don’t be a dick. Who you know is incredibly important. Build great contacts. People generally want to help you, but if you’re difficult to deal with or just out for yourself, that help will quickly disappear.
What is the best bit of advice, or quote, that resonates with you?
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. When your mind is going a million miles an hour, like mine does, having a phrase that calms you down and keeps you focused always helps.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Madame George in on K Rd in Auckland. It’ awesome!
How do you keep up to date with current affairs?
My 18 year old son wants to get into politics so he generally keeps me abreast of what’s going on internationally. Otherwise like most people, my phone.
What is the secret of living a longer, more successful life?
Stop worrying about things you can’t control, like people’s opinions. As long as you know you’re awesome, you’ll be fine.
What makes you feel alive?
Almost dying helps. So hurtling down the motorway on my midlife “celebration” (you can keep your midlife crisis bullsh*t) Triumph Bobber, will certainly get the blood pumping.
