Age: Close to 40
Occupation: DJ, Producer, Radio Guy.
What’s your morning routine? My morning routine is being woken up by my two and a half year old daughter. We get up and watch cartoons. I make her breakfast. I make myself breakfast. Take her to day-care, then head off to the gym and get my day started.
What are the top three things on your bucket list? Anything involved with exploring New York, would have to be the number one. I feel like I’m too young to have a bucket list. I just love experiencing what happens in the world on a day to day basis. I don’t think you need to go too far these days to find something amazing.
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self? You’re not the centre of the universe. You don’t have to be out partying all the time on the weekends. Partying’s fun, but there’s other things you can do in the world that are amazing that you’ll discover when you reach your 30s and beyond. Music sounds amazing, even when you’re sober.
How do you stay motivated? Coffee motivates me. It’s just a routine, a way of life. It’s one of my favourite things in the world… and then food. If you just repeat the cycle – coffee, food, music, you can live a happy life.
If you didn’t need money, what would you do? Be doing exactly what I’m doing right now.
What’s your secret to success? Find what you love, do it on a daily basis and be consistent.
What’s the best advice or quote that resonates with you? Charles Bukowski quotes are awesome. There’s a quote that’s on my Facebook profile, which I must have put that up there a long time ago – “Music is life, and life is rhythm.”
What is your favourite restaurant? You know it’s weird, I don’t have a favourite restaurant. I love calamari. So any restaurant that serves squid or calamari really well, that’s my favourite restaurant. Or Mexican. I love Mexican.
What is your secret to living longer, more satisfying life? Find what you love, what you’re passionate about, and do it – you’ll live a longer, healthier, more satisfying life. It’s pretty simple. I worked in a job I hated for 10 years and quit that to pursue my passions with music and radio and what I love. And I’ve been the happiest I’ve ever been ever since.
What makes you feel alive? The birth of my first child, Ivy, was an incredible way to feel alive. What an amazing joy. Seeing something like that come into the world. You’re never more alive than when you’re holding your partner’s hand during those moments.
