Man on the Street – James Denton
Age: 30
Occupation: Entrepreneur
What is your morning routine?
Wake up at 6.30am – shower, meditate for 30 minutes, have a green smoothie and hangout with the family then off to work for an 8am start.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Grow an international brand that does something beneficial for the environment – design and build my family home – spend an entire year of travel dedicated to surfing and eating amazing food with my family.
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
Eliminate as many of the bad habits out of your life as possible, such as drinking too much and then use the extra energy and money to go do amazing, adventurist things around the world.
How do you stay motivated?
I constantly dream up an awesome future, write the dreams down and constantly remind myself of where I am heading.
If you didn’t need money, what would you do? I would do what I am doing now in order to build a better world, which requires money to grow funnily enough.
What is your secret to success?
Keeping everything I do to as higher standard as I can conjure up, taking necessary risks and consistently working towards my goals.
What is the best bit of advice or quote that resonates with you?
A friend of my fathers once said there is absolutely no limits on what you are capable of achieving, so keep your mind open to opportunities that come your way and that feel right to you. Don’t be afraid to take those opportunities even if a big risk is involved with the decision, because realistically, what’s the worst that can happen?
What is your favourite restaurant
Chop chop in Ponsonby Central for work lunch, great veggie ramen. Cocos Cantina on K-Road for family, amazing food and atmosphere. Bouy cafe on the water front; amazing eggs benny and setting.
What is your secret to living a longer, more satisfying life?
Not sure about the trick to living longer but to live a satisfying life is to let go of pre-conceived ideas of what you think you should be doing and just go do the things you actually love, regularly.
What makes you feel alive?
Meditation and surfing every time without fail.
