A Word With Business Owner Stu Ross
Age: 39
Occupation: Business Owner / Physio at ‘The Body Refinery’
What’s your morning routine?
Usually an early start in the mornings, straight out the door to do some form of exercise. Whether that’s a swim squad, run, or cycle. Then a good healthy breakfast before getting stuck into work for the day.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
– Six months of travelling non-stop around the world (without having to check in to emails or work)
– Skydiving over an epic landscape, high enough so I get time to take it all in.
– Learning to fly a plane!
What advice would you give your 20 year-old self?
Trust your gut!
If you didn’t need money, what would you do?
Be a photographer and travel the world!
What is the secret to success?
Good communication! Always set aside time to talk to loved ones, family, friends, staff and work colleagues.
What is the worst mistake you’ve made and how did you fix it?
I can’t pick one. I’ve made heaps of mistakes, not all of them fixable! But I have learnt from them and tried not to repeat them again.
What is your advice for people to fund their dream?
Create and maintain good cashflow in business and in life. Once you have this, you can invest back into your own business to improve it and streamline it. Make the business work for you, so that you can spend time doing the other things in life that light you up!
What is the best piece of advice or quote that resonates with you?
Take your time when communicating with others. Not everything that’s on your mind has to be said right then and there. Give it a day.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Coco’s Cantina on K’ Road. The best food, wine list, beer, and atmosphere!!
How do you keep up to date with current affairs?
TVNZ OnDemand, Weekend Herald. (Donald Trump’s twitter feed… NOT)
What is the secret of living a longer, more successful life?
If I get a quality sleep, then everything else flows really nicely in life. I make better decisions in business, food choices, relationships etc… This includes napping when I can. A 20 minute nap makes me feel like I’m starting a new day with a clear brain!
What makes you feel alive?
Exercise and travel with my awesome fiancée!
