Mortal Kombat & All The Movies You Should Check Out This Autumn
Mortal Kombat
MA Fighter Cole Young played by Lewis Tan (Wu Assassins, Deadpool 2) has been taking beatings his entire life, unaware that a birthmark has set him apart for a bloodsport as old as time itself between Earth and Outerworld. Joe Taslim (Raid, The Night Comes for Us) plays the legendary Sub-Zero, Outerworld’s champion, making knives out of frozen blood and all sorts of craziness. A rumble like this is going to require some team assembling.
First time director Simon McQuoid knows what Mortal Kombat is all about though, and he hasn’t been afraid of pushing the movie in an R-rated direction. “It’s definitely not gonna get a PG-13 rating,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
“Out of context this quote might seem incendiary, it’s not: The rules around ratings aren’t what a lot of people think they are,” he clarifies.
“It’s amount of blood, it’s amount of red, it’s interpretation of how you go about it. We had a lot of discussions about getting the balance right so there was gore and there was blood and there were fatalities.”
So expect plenty of “FINISH HIM” moments.
For All Mankind: Season 2
In an alternate history where Russia reached the moon first, the space race has raged on into the 80s. Astronauts are armed and dangerous as the series jumps ahead nearly a decade from where Season 1 left off. A grounded story with a fascinating cast of characters each with their own motivations. Without Remorse
Based as loosely as possible on the Tom Clancy novel. Directed by Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) and headed by Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther) a generic Navy SEAL named John avenges his pregnant wife with titular levels of remorse against a drug cartel. Dumb action thriller fun, what more do you want?
