Ode to the HorseBit
The Gucci horsebit loafer is one of those fashion items that is perennially old school and new school all at the same time. You can just as easily imagine Hueh Hefner swaggering around in them in the 60s as much as you could Chris Pine our Cover man this issue. Way back in 1953 Aldo Gucci decided to embellish their loafers with the iconic item and now 70 years later the Horsebit loafer has become a fashion icon in it’s own right. To celebrate this long history the prestigious fashion house has dedicated a section of it’s Spring-Summer 2024 Men’s Collection at Milan fashion week to the humble loafer. Ten international artists got together to form the Gucci Horsebit Society and showcase the various aspects of the loafer. The results are stunning.
