Only 120 of These Rolls-Royce Ghost Prisms Have Been Made
Rolls-Royce, in a stroke of what can only be described as automotive couture wizardry, has rolled out the Ghost Prism. A limited edition, 120-unit tribute to the brand’s 120th birthday. And it looks like the party began with a particularly avant-garde game of Twister to choose the color options.
The Ghost Prism comes in Gunmetal with an assortment of accent options – Phoenix Red, Turchese, Mandarin, and Forge Yellow which you can have applied to the lower bumper inserts, brake calipers, and the coachline. And applied is properly an understatement. And the Ghost Prism isn’t just painted; it’s practically pampered. The Gunmetal exterior is a result of a 10-step process that’s more involved than your average spa treatment. Four layers of paint, hand-polished for 16 hours – that’s not a paint job; that’s an initiation ritual into high society.
Then there’s the brightwork. Forget the classic Rolls-Royce mirror finish; the Ghost Prism goes for the “Burnout” look, a high-gloss, smoked black-grey that sounds like it should come with its own rock soundtrack. Each metal piece is hand-prepped, primed, painted with four coats, and then polished to match the car’s glossy exterior. It’s like makeup for your car, but the kind that costs as much as a small yacht.
Fittingly, Anders Warming, the maestro behind this grand spectacle, talks about the Ghost Prism as if it were the Mona Lisa of cars. It’s a “timeless statement of self-expression.” “At Rolls-Royce, we are led by the tastes and desires of our clients, who in many cases determine global trends in fashion and the wider luxury sector. Ghost Prism is an extension of the personal aesthetic of a specific subset from this group of tastemakers. The motor car’s innovative use of dark, neutral tones with subtle impulses of colour, places it firmly within the contemporary luxury landscape. Our clients are experts and connoisseurs who know exactly what they want; Ghost Prism celebrates the unique relationship we have with them.”
Underneath this collection of hues is a twin-turbo V12, a symphony in engineering that can propel this luxury leviathan from 0 to 60 faster than you can say “I’ll have the caviar.”
Fuel consumption? Well, if you’re in the market for a Ghost Prism, this is probably not your primary concern but for the sake of due diligence, the Ghost Prism ranges from 15.0 to 15.8 ltr/100 km. It’s clear that the Ghost Prism prefers the finer things in life, like premium petrol.
Inside, the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the Bespoke Starlight Headliner, an opulent feature that brings the night sky inside, with 1,040 individually placed ‘stars’. No rainbow unfortunately.
