Playing Footsies With The Original Playstation
Do you want to feel real old? The PlayStation 1 is now 30 years old.
To celebrate, Reebok, the king of 90s culture has generated an exclusive range of region-specific sneakers to honour their combined legacy.
This drop is being done in conjunction with PlayStation’s other 30th anniversary collection, a limited run of PS5 consoles and accessories alongside a reskinned PS Portal Remote Player, all featuring the original PlayStation’s colour scheme.
The Reebok Workout Plus trainers are dropping in the UK via endclothing.com with two lace options, removable lace-lock cable attachment, internal arch band for enhanced fit, and anniversary grey sockliners.
My personal favourites, the Reebok Pump Omni Zone II’s are a pair of high tops with a big garish logo on the tongue, two lace options with metal tips, and tons of rad retro details. With that said, apart from the buttons displayed on the laces with the faux PlayStation port plug on it, all of these shoes are incredibly subdued. None of them felt the urge to whack back Triangles, Circles, X’s and squares on them. The Omni Zone II is being made available exclusively through CNCPTS.com in New York.

The last pair to drop are coming via beams.co.jp in Japan. As the PlayStation originally launched first in Japan in 1994 it’s only fair the world tour ends here. Of the three pairs the Reebok Instapump Fury 94’s are the most head turning with a pump ball ‘Press Play’ feature on the front, and the PS1 logo proudly emblazoned on the heel. It’s pumped up and chunky. I’d say they’d probably be pretty comfortable to wear, but I feel like all of these will instantly be going on collector walls and never feeling the sensual touch of a real life foot.
Limited quantities of collectors boxes featuring all three are available to exclusive retail partners, no word yet on when these will drop.
