Science Not Fiction
Like it or not, you guys all know the importance of looking after your skin. Yes, that means washing your mug and using those ‘creams and stuff’ that your partner uses – she will love you for it!
Cleanse
But with so many products out there claiming to do different things, it can become a bit daunting when it comes to choosing the right products. Look past the packaging, guys, because good products don’t all look blokey, but they will work wonders for your face. Find your main skin concern and target that, be it hyperpigmentation, acne or dryness, there will be a product for you. Then wait it out, long-lasting results won’t happen overnight, but give it a few weeks and you will be looking younger and more refreshed then ever, ready to take on the world. A cleanser that woks with your skin type is extremely important. A clay cleanser is great for those with more oily skin, as the clay absorbs any excess sebum. A foam cleanser is better for those who need to lift dirt and grime from their hard day’s work from their face.
Treat
Many people overlook this step, including even me, until recently discovering my new favourite serum from Ultraceuticals. The serum will directly target your main skin concern. Press the serum into warm clean skin with your palms, this will get the product deeper into your pores and also help to activate the ingredients.
Protect
After applying your serum, wait for about five minutes before slapping on your moisturiser. Dot the moisturiser evenly around your face and then gently rub in with your fingertips in an upward motion. And voila, you have successfully cleaned and cared for your face; now it wasn’t that painful was it?
AESOP
This Melbourne-based company, established in 1987, is a brand I have followed for some time now. With perfectly designed signature stores now open in New Zealand, Aesop is a brand that is most definitely worth checking out. All of their products are formulated by their in-house chemists, using only the finest ingredients (plant-based whereever possible) from across the globe. You will find more then just amazing skin care at Aesop, but these three products, left, are worth trying.
BRO-TO
Earlier I talked about good products not necessarily looking blokey, but this is an exception. Designed and formulated specifically for men, the Bro-To range is one that even the manliest men won’t be afraid to use. The range, which began with just the Properly Clean foaming cleanser, is now supported by the Very Useful face cream, and Face Hero facial oil and can definitely hold its own against some of those big cosmetic ranges.
Ultraceuticals
Something I look for in my skin-care range is that it doesn’t contain any harsh chemical or parabens, and Ultraceuticals doesn’t, tick. Another great thing about this company is that they are well know in the beauty industry for being 100 percent cruelty free and not tested on animals. Ultraceutical has a great selection of serums too, to treat your specific skin concerns.
