Sensitive Skin? Gillette Has The Solution
Gillette’s latest innovation, the Gillette Skinguard Razor, features new technology that’s clinically proven for sensitive skin and designed to stop irritation. We can find the humour in many of life’s irritating moments, but skin irritation is no laughing matter. Stresses on the skin from shaving can cause redness, nicks, cuts, ingrown hairs and bumps.
The entirely new and unique razor design uses SkinGuard technology positioned between two optimally spaced blades, to gently smooth and flatten the skin away from the razor blades during the shave. This ensures that hairs are trimmed at surface level, guarding sensitive skin from irritation. In addition to SkinGuard, Gillette released PURE by Gillette (soothing shave gel and soothing shave cream with aloe), which has zero alcohol, dyes, parabens and sulfates, specially designed to protect against irritation on sensitive skin during the shave.
TIPS TO SHAVING WITH LESS IRRITATION
TIP 1: PREPARE YOUR SKIN
Use a face wash or facial scrub to help soften facial hair before you shave. You also should hydrate skin with warm water for at least three minutes to further soften facial hair and make it easier to cut, allowing the razor to glide more easily. We recommend you shave immediately after showering, or even in the shower.
TIP 2: START WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS
Use a nondrying, dermatologist-tested shave gel, such as PURE by Gillette Soothing Shave Gel or PURE by Gillette Soothing Shave Cream, to soften hair and help defend your skin against nicks, cuts and help protect against irritation. Use an advanced multiblade razor that has blades spaced closer together, or Gillette SkinGuard with two optimally spaced blades, to help reduce pressure on each blade for a comfortable shave.
TIP 3: CHECK YOUR BLADES
Dull blades can lead to nicks and irritation. Change your blade when you experience discomfort. Or try a razor (like Gillette Fusion 5 blades) that features an indicator strip that will fade to white when you might no longer be getting an optimal shave.
TIP 4: SHARPEN YOUR TECHNIQUE
Shave with light, gentle strokes. Your razor should do the work, not you. Start shaving with the grain (in the direction of hair growth). Then if necessary, go against the grain for an even closer shave.
TIP 5: SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST
Shaving your upper lip and around your mouth at the end of your shave will give the shave gel more time to soak in, further softening your facial hair and making it easier to cut. Also, the single blade trimmer on the back of all Gillette Fusion and SkinGuard razors is really useful for shaving hard to reach places like under your nose.
TIP 6: RINSE YOUR BLADE FREQUENTLY
Rinsing the blade often throughout your shave prevents buildup on the blade edges and cartridge, resulting in better glide and more comfort.
TIP 7: PROTECT YOUR FACE AND NECK
After shaving, rinse skin with cool water and pat it dry. Then use a hydrating aftershave lotion to cool and moisturise your skin.
