Smacircle S1 eBike
A 1978 smash-hit by Queen features the lyric: “I want to ride my bicycle / I want to ride my bike / I want to ride my bicycle / I want to ride it where I like!”
For cyclists alike, it would be a dream to ride their bikes wherever “[they] like”. Now, that dream has become a reality and it was introduced at this years CES conference in Las Vegas. The Smacircle S1 eBike came in the wake of much anticipation and pomp. The Smacircle founder and CEO, Shanggui Wu, was at the event to accept the Innovation Awards Honoree title. Over 100 media outlets worldwide reported on Smacircle S1 upon its release at the start of the year and its official video has been translated into more than 10 languages.
But, I suppose, you’d expect such great hype from the world’s greatest, foldable electric bike. The build and frame of the bike is designed with carbon fibre and looks like a large pair of spectacles. This futuristic design is stylish, with a brushless DC motor and an A-frame that also works around the folding capabilities of the bike. It can be folded in a mere 10 seconds!
It has a charge-time of 2.5 hours and can travel for about 20km (at a 12.5mph speed) from a full-charge. The startup has raised a total of $437,030 USD since the campaign started on July 18, 2017 and is set to be sold globally and online within the year. A very exciting time for eBike enthusiasts!
