Tag The Bull
Occasionally we get told “M2 you cover too many watches”, to that we say… Nothing usually, it goes right into our spam folder. We are unrepentant watch nerds here, but it’s been a hot minute since we covered a smart watch by one of our favourite brands TAG Heuer.
TAG, alongside Redbull launched the TAG Heuer Formula 1 x Red Bull Racing Special Edition, which was a more conventional timepiece showing off their craft to it’s fullest. They’re following that up with the new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 45MM x Oracle Red Bull Racing Edition running Wear OS 3. It has a day of battery life which can keep a tab on all your metrics with sensors covering heart rate, compass, accelerometer, gyroscope, microphone, and a Barometer. It has a 1.39’’ 454×454 pixel OLED display with apps powered by the grunt of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100+. But what makes it so special? It has a black DLC grade-2 titanium 45-millimeter case. The bracelet comes in a Bi-material leather and rubber strap in blue and red with grey and blue stitching.
The hero watch face, named “Season,” displays flags along the bezel, highlighting the current country where the Team is competing over the week-end. This watch face evolves throughout the year, reflecting the finishing positions of Oracle Red Bull Racing drivers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez. Before each weekend when the Team is racing, the app displays a countdown, while during the weekend, it showcases encouraging images of the Team from Friday’s free practice to Sunday’s race. Post-race, it updates with the Oracle Red Bull Racing drivers and team positions, creating a continuous connection with the Team’s performance.
This one’s for the real motorheads.
