The Biggest Yachts at Monaco Yacht Show 2023
It’s not how big your super-yacht is, it’s how you use it. If you’re going to go anywhere in the world to see floating palaces it would have to be Monaco. I’d say any major center in New Zealand with all the flooding we’ve been having recently but we don’t have any palaces despite what pre flood property prices might indicate so Monaco it is.
Let’s take a quick tour of some of the biggest boats at the show this year and what they have to offer. Super Models not included.
Carinthia VII – 318 Footer
Clocking in at 3,600 gross tons with 6 decks and a 16m beam the Carinthia VII is the largest Super-yacht we know of on the quay at Monaco this year. It has a private owners deck with separate daytime and night-time areas and stateroom, a VIP stateroom adjacent and six extra staterooms on the main deck for guests.
It’s got everything you’d expect to pack into 318 feet of luxury including a wellness spa and elevator across four fo the decks. It can manage accommodation for 14 guests and 26 crew.
It can range up to 5,000 nm cruising 18 knots, or a max speed of 25 knots if you’re in a hurry to get anywhere.
Phoenix 2 – 300 Footer
If you have a cool NZ$222 Million on you then the Phoenix 2 could be yours. It was first built in 2010 and recently got a refit in 2019. It can fit 14 guests across 7 staterooms. If anyone needs to do a runner in a hurry there are two touch and go helicopter platforms. Personally I’m here for the indoor outdoor cinemas and swimming pool with a separate jacuzzi. Who needs Waiwera anymore anyway. Interior designs are callbacks to art deco and features a winter garden, ballroom, and spiral staircase leading to the upper decks.
It’s also decked out with a jacuzzi lounge, gym, beauty salon and cinema. The owners suite keeps up the tempo with wraparound views accessible via a glass spiral staircase. The full featured bathroom is decked in marble and a concealable walk-in wardrobe if the owner wants to keep their kit there but rent the boat out in the off-season. Designed by Tim Heywood this isn’t even the largest yacht he’s designed. The largest is named A+ (formerly Topaz) and clocks in at 482 Feet
Savannah – 274 Footer
Savannah throws out many of the usual flourishes found on your standard super-yacht, forging it’s own path instead. It’s the largest hybrid motoryacht launched as well as being the largest ship to every have a “full metal jacket” of metallic sea-foam-green paint from top to waterline according to Feadship. It has it’s own elevator connecting its four decks as well as an underwater lounge. Many of the main areas are open to the sea, including the Main-deck salon which slides away into a pool deck and circular lounge outdoor space. The gym also looks out to the sea with slide glass paneling. The interiors are a collage of retail design spaces with inspiration coming from Christian Dior, Kenzo and Virgin Megastores thanks to Cristina Gherardi Design.
Aware Yacht – 262 Footer
If you’re looking to get the most out of a small space ask a Dutch farmer, failing being able to find one of those ask a Dutch Yacht Designer, namely Sinot which has made the most out of every square inch of the 262-foot long Aware Yacht. That isn’t to say they haven’t created ridiculously cavernous opulent spaces. The bridge is a sprawling 1,500 square foot epicenter. A glass encased pavilion leads to the wheelhouse, dining area nad a library. The beach club has 10-foot ceilings and sliding glass partitions for augmenting the space. Why sunbath outside when inside is this accommodating. It can accommodate 10 guests in four lavish cabins
Leona – 263 Footer
Bilgin Yachts have created a super-yacht for a secretive rich lister who has a penchant for the absurd. This is the largest yacht made in Turkey and apparently the 263 foot long Leona has an entertainment system in the ambient area that is so complex that it’s controlled by 100 iPads and includes a projection screen on the ceiling. That sounds more like a tech issue than a testament to how great the system is. I’m not sure I quite believe that, but moving on.
Checking off the list is an extravagant owners suite with it’s own private lounge and exterior pool. 2 VIP guest suites with his and hers bathrooms ensure the guests are in no-less luxurious accommodation. On Tatiana, Leona’s older sister ship, these 2 VIP rooms are split into 4 smaller guest rooms. The interior is all gold inlays, onyx and marble.
Engine-wise we’re looking at a maximum speed of 19 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots powered by 2,560 kW twin engines.
