The Biggest Yachts of Monaco Yacht Show 2024
Our favourite Yacht show of the year has been and gone. Let’s take a moment to celebrate the most impressive yachts of the season. They’re always a wonder of engineering, design, and fashion. Boatyards sit down and ask “How much luxury would you like?” and their patrons open their wallet and say “yes.”
The question is how far can this industry push things before they stray too far into cruiseliner territory.
Kismet
122 metres
Kismet is yet another product of the German based Lürssen Yachts and it’s incredible, fresh out the shipyard this year. The last Kismet they built, which was a tad smaller (95.2m) was sold at least years Monaco Yacht show for around $160 million to Eric Schmidt, ex-CEO of Google and 52nd richest man in the world. He renamed the yacht to Whisper.
But that’s in the past. This new Kismet is an upsized refined version of Whisper. It’s beautiful interiors make you feel as though you’re in some ritzy upmarket hotel and restaurant rather than on a boat. If you don’t want to pick it up you can always charter it for the low low cost of $3.25 million per week. It’s currently puttering around in the Med and owned by billionaire sports tycoon and businessman Shahid Khan. It turns out Lürssen Yachts has a pretty faithful client in Shahid, as this is the third boat they’ve made for Khan.
A nemo lounge in the hull allows guests to look through a bubble in the bottom of the hull at all the sea life drifting by. It’s got a cinema, the ever present duplex owner’s suite and spa, and space enough for 12 guests in 8 staterooms. There’s space enough for 37 crew. If nobody is staying the night it can host 24 for dining on the upper deck, 18 on the main, and 14 on both the top and pool deck according to the Robb Report.
It’s got green tech built into it’s hybrid system making it one of the world’s largest vessels (4918.0 GT) to have the ability to switch over to full-electric mode.
Golden Odyssey
123.2 metres
Launched in 2015 From Lürssen Yachts from Germany the Golden Odyssey is possibly the largest superyacht listed at the Monaco Yacht Show this year. It’s ranked 38th in the world rankings for largest yacht. It has a massive 7,690GT of volume, a beam of 18.8m and a draught of 5.1m.
It can accommodate 30 guests in 15 cabins and 70 crew, so if there’s a mutiny your friends can be assured they’ll be quickly dispatched to the lifeboats. Interiors were designed by Alberto Pinto. 2 MTU diesel electric engines and four V16 MTU’s deliver a top speed of 21 knots and a cruise speed of 15.
It has everything you’d expect from a yacht it’s size including a private owners deck that is essentially it’s own kingdom with two master suites, a spa, Hammam, steam room, and private terrace.
Last time this yacht was sold it went for over NZ$270,000,000.
Renaissance
111.9 metres
While we’re using length for this list Renaissance understands that it’s not length but girth that is a better indicator of a yacht’s true size. While there are a couple longer than Renaissance she takes the cake for sheer gross tonnage weighing in at 7,200 GT with an 18 meter beam. This makes Renaissance the largest yacht to ever attend the Monaco Yacht Show and the biggest private yacht ever built in Spain by the Commercial shipyard Friere, who has only built one other private yacht in the past.
She was delivered in 2023, hosts 36 guests and has a top speed of 16 knots. It comes equipped with everything you’d expect to find on a luxury yacht including saunas, a ballet bar, and a fully equipped gym that would apparently blow the socks off any pro athlete.
It’s available for charter from just $3,000,000 a week.
DAR
90.1 metres
Speaking of Oceanco our next yacht on the list “DAR” was also built by them and delivered in 2018 and getting a refit just this year. Inspired by a shark DAR has almost 400sqm of glass on the main deck and sundeck. When she was completed she became multi-award winning including received a commendation for Best Technical Achievement. Full height windows give the owner’s private upper deck the breezy light interiors they deserve, while also offering a private forward facing Jacuzzi. She can accommodate 12 guests in 7 cabins.
You can charter her from $1,299,000 a week.
Aalto
80 metres
Alto was built by Oceanco in the Netherlands back in 2007 with interior designs by Alberto Pinto. Since then she has had a couple refits, one in 2022, and again just this year as she’s being put back on the market. The asking price is around NZ$143,000,000.
She can comfortably accommodate 16 guests in 8 staterooms along with 30 crew. In total she has a gross tonnage of 2310.0 GT and a 14.2 m beam. In terms of speed she’s a bit nippier than average.
Platinum
78 metres
Platinum is a brand new yacht delivered just this year by Admiral in Italy. This is their largest project yet, but I’m sure they’ll be changing that soon.. It has a beam of 12.8m and a gross tonnage of 2146.0 GT. She has a top speed of 16 knots via two MTU engines, but who wants to get anywhere quickly in a floating mansion. Globally she’s ranked 210th. Construction on her began in 2019 but yacht fans have had a hard time getting a good look at her until Monaco since she was kept under wraps the entire time. She features a helipad, And an infinity pool on one of her four decks. Interiors are hard to find but they were designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design.
Amaryllis
78.4 metres
She’s coming in near the bottom of our list for Monoco, but afterwards Amaryllis set off for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show where she very much was the biggest fish in a little pond. She was launched from Abeking & Rasmussen in Germany in 2011 and has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure with a beam of 12.40m.
Amaryllis got a refit in 2019 and accommodates 12 guests across six cabins and five decks. The interiors are all Art Deco designed by Reymond Langton so that means the Owner’s suite gets little flares like a clawfoot bed, and a lime marble ensuite with 180 degree ocean views.
H3
104.8 metres
First launched in 2000 H3 got an incredible facelift in 2024. She originally went under the name Indian Empress, but came up for auction and got snaffled up for a project so all inclusive that the shipyard treated it like an entirely new build. Think of it like the superyacht of Theseus. Is it even the same boat if every part has been replaced?
Up to 20 guests can be hosted by 31 crew. She’s powered by 2 MTU engines that little it chug around at 18 kn. On the global scale H3 is ranked 74th largest, and is the 7th largest built by Oceanco.
Energy
77.7 metres
Only a smidge shorter than Platinum, Energy rounds out our list. First delivered in 2022 Energy came up for sale for the first time at the beginning of 2024. The brief for exterior designer Øino and interior designer Zuretti was to “defy convention and find ways to connect with the ocean”. Honestly if I received that brief I would have immediately drilled a couple holes in the bottom of the yacht. 14 guests can be accommodated in seven cabins. 27 crew can also be hosted. She has a gross tonnage of 2,885GT.
A glass elevator allows guests to move between floors quickly, and a Steinway baby grand piano next to a marble topped bar on the bridge allows for some pretty excellent evenings. A long pool is touted as being one of the largest pools on “any yacht, anywhere.”
Bold
85.3 metres
Built by SilverYachts Bold is what it says on the tin. Her exterior eschews from the luxurious curves the others opt for, instead going for a silhouette that might mistake it for a Navy frigate. It was completed in 2019 and features a dancefloor, spa, underwater lights and gym. It accommodates 12 guests across 8 suites as well as 20 crew. It can range up to 5,500 nautical miles with a max speed of 23 knots.
This ship, more than any other we’ve featured so far in this list is all about the toys. It comes with two Seadoo 300hp WaveRunners, a Kite Surfer, two laser sailboats and plenty of scuba gear to go around.
You can charter her from around $1,000,000 a week.
