The Hugo Boss Range That Will Make You Look Good In And Out Of The Ring
Way back in 1985, Rocky 4 brought Hugo Boss to the big screen. Not once, but thrice in one of the most iconic scenes of the series. Sylvester Stallone sported a white hoodie, emblazoned with the iconic fashion house’s logo. He’s backed up by Paulie and Tony Duke who wear red and blue versions of the same top. It’s American patriotism at its most stylish. No doubt the sharp look and strong imagery evoked by a gigantic “BOSS” written across the front was also a major factor in their inclusion in the film. This is what these men are all about, they’re at the top of their field, they’re the best. Let’s ignore the fact that Apollo gets stone cold murdered by the end of this scene.
Hugo Boss never left the ring after this, and has kept its DNA in the boxing scene ever since. Anthony Joshua, the unified heavyweight world champion boxer can attest to this. “I like the Rocky films – that’s when I learned about BOSS.” he admitted. “Respect to the Klitschko brothers for bringing BOSS into the boxing arena. BOSS have supplied clothes that fit me for a long time.”
Joshua is currently the face of Hugo BOSS Stretch Tailoring. Meaning he can look good without tearing his pants in half after a single lunge. It’s fair to say Joshua fits the model of a classic M2 man. He, like the fictional Rocky, is at the top of his field, and makes time to be fashion conscious. Although this might be because of his huge physique.
“Because I’m big, I could never order clothes from off the peg – I had to get them tailored to perfection. So through that, I started learning the importance of planning ahead. I couldn’t be like my friends – if we had an event on Saturday, they could go shopping that afternoon. I need to know what I’m wearing two months in advance!”
“I like the guys who create their own style, but for me, for what I’m wearing now [a white t-shirt, navy blue BOSS Menswear suit and white trainers] makes me feel ten out of ten. ”
He’s also discovered the joys of good tailoring, although this took time.
“It was velour tracksuits and Wembley market jeans back then. I didn’t know about tailoring. I get everything tailored now. I’d get my trainers tailored if I could. The tailor keeps me looking good, and I keep the tailor in business! It’s a good relationship.”
