M2 2021 Luxury Watch Preview: Hublot
M2 brings you its top watch picks in a series featuring the best of this year’s luxury timepiece releases.
Hublot Big Bang Integral Ceramic
Love the beauty of luxury watches but not a fan of the feeling of weight on your wrist? Then the Hublot Big Bang Integral Ceramic could be just the ticket for you.
Hublot’s signature ceramic material is 30% lighter than steel – and up to three times harder while boasting hypoallergenic properties and low heat conductivity too. Now, following the success of their black edition, Hublot are releasing three new versions in white, navy blue and grey. All sculpted entirely from difficult-to-machine ceramic bar the bezel lugs – made from composite in the matching colour – plus the rubber elements in the crown and the pushers. Inside, it is powered by the Unico V2 HUB1280 with a thinner automatic winding system and also look for four new patented innovations; an oscillating seconds clutch, chronograph friction system with ball-bearing adjustment, ratchet retaining system with unidirectional gears and an index-assembly fine adjustment system.
Another exciting feature that helps differentiate this edition from other Big Bang models is its fully integrated bracelet, where the first links have been fused with the 42mm case to help create a single colour, single material fashion look.
Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Orange Sapphire
Great news fans of the colour orange – Hublot have created the world’s first ever orange sapphire case! Manufactured completely in-house, this art of fusion has meshed titanium and chromium into a daring new shade of sapphire far bolder than the red, blue, black and transparent hues that Hublot has popularised before. Featuring a translucent bezel and case made entirely from finely polished orange sapphire, the look is complemented by six H-shaped titanium screws that complete the Big Bang signature while the skeleton is accentuated by sandblasted platinum. There are more sapphires inside too, with even the movement calibre featuring three sapphire bridges; a barrel, an automatic plus a tourbillon barrette.
The tourbillon itself – revolving on its axis every minute to compensate for the pull of the Earth – is prominent on the dial and is unusual in itself as it is self-winding, delivering a power reserve of at least three days. Equipped with ceramic ball bearings, Hublot have made it even more unique by reconfiguring the movement to include the grey 22-carat gold micro-rotor on the dial side. Legibility of the hands and indices has been enhanced with a luminescent coating, while the transparent orange rubber strap with a lined relief features a patented express One Click interchangeability system and titanium deployant buckle. Don’t miss this limited edition release of 50 pieces.
