The New Bentley Continental GT
First shown off at IAA Frankfurt Motor Show this year, the Bentley Continental GT is a sight to behold and a pleasure to drive and it’s coming to New Zealand soon.
At the heart of the new British-designed, engineered and hand-crafted, third-generation Continental GT sits an all-new enhanced version of Bentley’s 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine, mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission for faster, more efficient gear changes. It can go from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 333 km/h. But for some inexplicable reason, you still need to go 80km/h if you’re heading past the Waterview connection.
An advanced, fully digital, driver-focused instrument panel and Bentley Rotating Display for the driver are among the suite of innovations. The latter features an impressive 12.3-inch touchscreen housed in a three-sided unit, which revolves the veneer to reveal the touchscreen as well as three elegant analogue dials.
The Continental GT’s profile is longer and lower due in part to the positioning of the front wheels 135mm further forward, which in turn allows the bonnet to be extended and the nose to be lowered. The all-new body and materials save more than 80 kilograms over the previous Continental W12 body.
The interior looks amazing with a new ‘diamond in diamond’ leather design. Significant work has gone into harmonising the 15 colours across hides and carpets.
If you want a ride that says luxury and comfort, this is the car for you.
The all new Bentley Continental GT arrives in November so stay tuned for more from us on this incredible machine.
